Volunteering at Feiro Marine Life Center is an exciting opportunity to share your knowledge, discover new skills, and have unforgettable experiences while contributing to a vital mission: engaging the community in marine and watershed environments. You’ll get to enjoy the great outdoors, give back to your community, and forge lasting friendships!
Who Can Volunteer?
We welcome volunteers of all ages! If you’re 15 or younger, you just need to bring an adult along. And don’t worry—no prior marine biology experience is necessary!
Key Positions:
Naturalists: Our largest and most challenging need is for Naturalists. We provide the training you need to answer visitors’ questions about many aspects of our marine life. It is the knowledge and friendliness of our Naturalists that make certain that people will want to return again and again.
Education Programs: If you have a passion for working with youth and are available during school hours or after school, consider joining our education team. We also offer lifelong learning programs for adults, including field studies at Peabody Creek, Hollywood Beach, and City Pier, as well as STEM education initiatives like underwater robotics and arts integration. Help enrich the learning experience for students as a volunteer in our education programs.
Exhibit Cleaning and Animal Husbandry Crew: Get a behind-the-scenes look at how we care for our marine life! You will receive training to assist our staff with feeding, cleaning habitats, and ensuring the well-being of all species in the center.
Community Science Programs: Dive into hands-on projects through our community science initiatives. Participate in data collection efforts that contribute to local, regional, and national research.
